Summer Camps - Saint Ursula Academy, Cincinnati OH

  • All Summer Academy Programs and Athletic Camps are available on a first come, first served basis.  Space is limited and our enrichment camps fill up quickly.  Please register early!
  • Refunds will only be issued in the event the program or camp is canceled due to lack of enrollment.
  • Register for a morning and afternoon session, if you wish!  A common dining area will be available for students who bring a packed lunch.
  • All camp participants will receive a Saint Ursula Academy t-shirt!
  • The fee for most non-athletic camps is $95.
  • Athletic camp fees and dates vary.


First Session: June 6-10

Cooking with Class (6th – 8th grades):
Want to learn to slice and dice like a chef? Do you like to eat? Do you enjoy the idea of creating something from what seems like nothing? Then, this cooking camp is for YOU! We will learn how to make yummy desserts, delicious salsas, pasta dishes and so much more! Each day will include education, cooking, eating and discussion. We will discuss essential kitchen tools and skills, as well as learn about the science behind cooking. Bon appétit!

Afternoon Session: 12:00-2:30

Music and Theatre Exploration (6th – 8th grades): 
The perfect fit for aspiring performers of any level. The week-long experience will begin by introducing students to the process of acting through warm up exercises and theatrical improvisation games. As the week progresses students will be introduced to how to prepare a song through vocal warm-ups and musical techniques. Next students will learn how to approach musical theatre dance through stretches, fun dance games and skill building. Finally, students will begin creating a character on stage through more improvisation games and work with a scripted piece of theatre.

Dynamic Design Days (7th – 8th grades):
7th and 8th graders, your design career starts at Saint Ursula Academy! This camp will introduce you to the real world of design which has a huge impact on your everyday life. Good design has the potential to make a positive difference on the quality of everybody's world, both locally and globally. Whether you see yourself working in the world of fashion, graphics, illustration, car design, interior design, web design, as an animator at Pixar or even becoming a renowned architect, here is where it all begins. Did you know that 90% of the information to your brain is visual? Because you are bombarded with images around the clock, the need to be able to interpret and send messages is vital. Join this hands-on design camp to learn how to decipher and generate pictures to persuade, inform and amuse. We will do simple design exercises to learn to abstract and present ideas, compose, use color to illustrate and develop graphics for a little love story. No experience necessary!

FBI – Future Bulldogs Investigate (6th – 8th grades):
Do you enjoy mysteries and solving who-done-it type stories? Have you ever wondered how well you would do at solving cases?  In the FBI-Future Bulldogs Investigate camp you will get your chance to be a criminal investigator.  Cases might be as simple as who is telling the truth about a fight at school, to whose body is in the trunk found in the basement.  Learn the crime scene science techniques used by real investigators.  Take fingerprints, determine blood types, analyze bones, and put your investigative skills to the test.
Afternoon session: 12:00-2:30

Grasp the Guitar (6th – 8th grades): 
This camp will focus on learning to read music and learning notes on the guitar. By the end of the week, students will be playing in ensembles with other guitarists. We will also work on learning chords and playing pop songs. All materials, including use of a guitar, will be provided for the week. Morning session and afternoon sessions are available.
Afternoon session: 12:00-3:00

International Exploration (6th – 8th grades): 
We will seek to learn about the traditions, culture, music, food, languages, clothing, and history of various parts of the world and countries. We will learn some common phrases used in different languages and listen to international music! We'll watch videos of traditional dance styles and clothing worn. We'll consider what international food we often eat and try some other ones as well!

Second Session: June 27-July 1

Going Beyond Numbers: Math Applications that Make Sense! (8th graders)
How can a boutique owner market her upcoming sale to entice customers to purchase her clearance products? What is the ideal number of travelers needed for an airline to maximize its income? How does a designer create a box that uses the least amount of cardboard but holds the maximum number of objects? What does it mean when it is reported that a disease is spreading exponentially?
Math is more than just arithmetic! Each day of this camp, students will use a different mathematical concept to explore a real life situation. This class is appropriate for students entering the 8th grade who have shown a good understanding of pre-Algebra skills (working with variables, graphing coordinates on the coordinate plane, evaluating expressions with variables) and will be having Algebra coursework during her 8th grade year. Graphing calculators and tablets will be provided during the camp sessions.

Write away! (6th – 8th grades): 
This camp will explore different writing styles and genres and will give students strategies for creating compelling poetry, fiction, and personal narratives. Each day will feature group discussions, free writing, tips to improve skills, sessions to polish our work, and opportunities to share our creations.

High School Placement Test Preparation Camp: July 18-21

This four day course is designed for girls entering the 8th grade in the fall of 2022. Students will familiarize themselves with practice tests and questions for the HSPT as well as learn test taking strategies to increase confidence for the test. Instructors will review both language and math concepts to ensure students feel prepared for the exam in November 2022.

Instruction is led by ACE Test Prep. ACE is a test prep company of practicing teachers who provide students with content, practice and strategies to tackle standardized tests. All materials are provided.

A campus tour will be provided on the final day.
