Saint Ursula Academy Announces National Merit Semifinalists for 2016-2017

Cincinnati, OH – September 14, 2016 – Saint Ursula Academy is proud to announce its National Merit semifinalists for 2016-2017. Today officials of the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC) announced the names of approximately 16,000 Semifinalists in the 62nd annual National Merit Scholarship Program. These students scored in the top 1% of all students across the nation who took the PSAT test as juniors.

The National Merit Semifinalists from Saint Ursula Academy this year are:

Leah Therese Grabowski of Hyde Park
Sophia Marie Heller
of Anderson Twp.

These academically talented high school seniors have an opportunity to continue in the competition for some 7,500 National Merit Scholarships worth more than $33-million that will be offered next spring.

To be considered for a Merit Scholarship award, Semifinalists must fulfill several requirements to advance to the Finalist level of the competition. More than 90-percent of the Semifinalists are expected to attain Finalist standing, and about half of the Finalists will win a National Merit Scholarship, earning the Merit Scholar title.

“We are so proud of these students and this impressive accomplishment,” said Saint Ursula Academy principal Craig Maliborski. “These girls work very hard and it’s affirming to see them rewarded for their efforts. We wish them each success as they move into the next phase of the scholarship competition.”
