12 Saint Ursula Academy Seniors Earn National Merit Recognition

National Merit Semifinalists
Saint Ursula Academy is proud to announce 12 students recognized by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation for 2018-2019.   

The following students were named National Merit Semifinalists. These students finished in the top 1% of students nationwide who took that PSAT exam as juniors.  They are among 16,000 semifinalists who will continue in the competition for 7,500 Merit Scholarship awards worth more than $32-million. They are:

Madison Boosveld of Colerain Twp.
Melina Canter of Loveland
Madeline Cherry of Pierce Twp.
Julia Lucas of Anderson Twp.
Gabrielle Warren of Fairfield
 
 

Seven SUA students were named National Merit Commended Students, meaning they finished in the top 5% of students nationwide.  The Commended Students are:

Jacqueline Dillon of Anderson Twp.
Olivia Egbers of Sycamore
Megan Greive of Sycamore
Elizabeth Jira of Anderson Twp.
Olivia Raines of Anderson Twp.
Cassidy Serger of Milford
Adelene Somerville of Amelia

“We are so proud of these students for this accomplishment,” said Saint Ursula Academy Principal Dr. Mari Thomas. “These are great people as well as great scholars. We are thrilled to be their partners as they develop academically, socially and spiritually, and we will continue to work with them unlock their potential and help them meet their academic goals.”

Saint Ursula Academy teachers and students work together in a dynamic learning environment to participate in an educational process that promotes critical thinking, problem solving techniques, and higher level thinking. All are necessary elements for success on the PSAT test, which determines those chosen for the National Merit Program in all of the categories.

Saint Ursula Academy is a Catholic, college-preparatory, secondary school for young women known for academic excellence and rich tradition. Saint Ursula welcomes students from more than 90 grade schools in the Greater Cincinnati area.  The Academy is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education as a Blue Ribbon School. The campus, located at 1339 E. McMillan Street in East Walnut Hills has been the home of Saint Ursula Academy and Convent since 1910. The Class of 2018 earned college scholarships totaling more than $21-million.
