St. Ursula Academy’s Taylor Swope Named Top Field Hockey Player

St. Ursula Academy junior Taylor Swope of Springdale was recently named Offensive Player of the Year by the Southwest Ohio Field Hockey League (SWOFHL). Her talent and skills were seconded by the Ohio Field Hockey Coaches Association (OFHCA), who named Swope to the All-Ohio Team, an honor reserved for the top 15 field hockey players in the state.

Taylor was honored to be recognized for her talents in a sport that she enjoys so much. “I love the intensity of the sport and the positive team-building atmosphere that it incorporates. My mom and Coach Catlin have constantly challenged me to become the best I can be in anything I do. This award shows me that all of my pre-season and post-season work has paid off.”

Coach Sarah Catlin also believes that Taylor’s hard work is the key to her success. “Taylor is an exceptional athlete and dedicated herself to improving in the off season. She grew in her role as an on field leader this season and her awards are the recognition of her success in making both herself and her team better.”

In addition to these honors, Taylor was also a “leader of the league” according to SWOFHL with 10 goals and 24 points during the 2013 season.
