St. Ursula Academy Alum Asha Daniels to Compete on Lifetime’s “Project Runway” Spinoff “Under the Gunn”

Cincinnati, Ohio, January 15, 2014 – St. Ursula Academy is proud to announce that Cincinnati native and St. Ursula alumna Asha Daniels ‘06 has been chosen to compete on the design reality show Under the Gunn, a spinoff of the popular Project Runway series.

Under the Gunn is a new fashion design competition series hosted by Emmy Award-winning Tim Gunn. Asha is the first designer from Cincinnati, Ohio to be selected to compete in a show in the Project Runway franchise.

Asha graduated with honors from St. Ursula Academy in 2006. She took design classes in high school and excelled with the help of design educator Alison Probst. She was chosen from 2,000 applicants to be awarded the Cincinnatus Presidential Scholarship from the University of Cincinnati, where she attended the D.A.A.P. program and graduated Magna Cum Laude with a degree in fashion design.

After college, she pursued her dreams of being a designer and most recently interned with Marchesa, where a dress she draped became part of the current Marchesa wedding collection.

Lifetime TV describes Asha as bright, beautiful and feisty. You can watch her beginning Thursday, January 16 at 9:00 pm on Lifetime network. See Asha’s previous work and learn more at http://www.mylifetime.com/shows/under-the-gunn/season-1/designers/asha-daniels.

About “Under the Gunn”
America's favorite mentor, Tim Gunn passes the torch to Project Runway alumni Mondo Guerra, Anya Ayoung-Chee and Nick Verreos, who have shown their prowess on the runway as contestants, but now must prove they have the vision and business savvy to mentor and manage a fashion empire with 15 new up-and-coming designers under their watch. Each mentor will have a team of designers they must manage, coach, cheerlead and, when necessary, knock down with tough love in order to lead them to runway success. This new crop of designers will face the critiques of designer Rachel Roy, celebrity stylist Jen Rade, creator of some of the most iconic red carpet looks in Hollywood, and TV fashion correspondent and Marie Claire Senior Fashion Editor Zanna Roberts Rassi.

In the first two episodes of Under the Gunn, Tim will present a race-around-the-clock challenge to the fashion hopefuls as Mondo, Anya and Nick measure the skill level of the contestants and duke it out to determine which four designers will land on their teams. In the subsequent episodes, Tim will present new challenges that will test the mentors' ability to bring out the best in their designers as they guide them through the competition. While the designers are whittled down during the season, only the most talented and creative individuals will survive to compete in the finale, where one designer—and one mentor—will be deemed the winners of Under the Gunn.

The show, Under the Gunn premieres Thursday, January 16 at 9:00 pm EST.
