THANK YOU to all of the donors who chose SUA on #GivingTuesday, helping us surpass our $35,000 goal!

Cincinnati, Ohio, December 3, 2014 – Saint Ursula Academy is deeply grateful for the support of the many donors who helped the school surpass its goal of $35,000 #GivingTuesday.  Gifts to Saint Ursula Academy made on December 2 supported the Saint Ursula Fund, the school's annual giving campaign that supports school students and operations.

#Giving Tuesday is a national effort created to harness the collective power of charities, families, businesses and individuals—to transform how people think about, talk about, and participate in the giving season.

Taking place Tuesday, December 2, 2014—the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, #GivingTuesday harnesses the power of social media to create a national movement around the holidays dedicated to giving, similar to how Black Friday and Cyber Monday have become days that are, today, synonymous with holiday shopping.

Coinciding with the Thanksgiving Holiday and the kickoff of the holiday shopping season, #GivingTuesday #ChooseSUA inspired hundreds of people to take collaborative action to improve their local communities, give back in better, smarter ways to the organizations, like Saint Ursula, that they support and help to create a better world.

Saint Ursula faculty, staff and students strongly supported this effort and inspired each other as part of this worldwide movement.

“Saint Ursula Academy is dedicated to educating women of faith, integrity and courage committed to building a better world, so our fit with this worldwide effort is natural,” said Lelia Kremer, President of Saint Ursula Academy. “It’s important for our students to learn the importance of giving back and supporting the organizations that are important to them and the communities they live in and serve.”

Saint Ursula’s goal for #GivingTuesday was to raise $35,000 in that single day to help support the students at Saint Ursula Academy.   The final numbers are still being tallied, but we can tell you we surpassed our goal!

"We are so thankful for the many donors, supporters and friends who chose SUA for their #GivingTuesday gift," said Meridith Oberklein Spille, Director of Advancement and Stewardship and coordinator of Saint Ursula's #GivingTuesday effort. "Their generosity makes a real and positive impact in the school and for the students."

“#GivingTuesday is a counter narrative to Black Friday and Cyber Monday because it reminds us that the spirit of the holiday giving season should be about community and not just consumerism,” said Kathy Calvin, CEO of the UN Foundation. “The most meaningful gift we can give our children, loved ones, friends and neighbors is the commitment to work together to help build a better world.”
