Saint Ursula Student Selected to Perform with New York Pops at Carnegie Hall

Cincinnati, Ohio, Date, 2016 – Saint Ursula Academy is proud to announce Alexandra Leurck ‘19 of Hyde Park was chosen to perform at Carnegie Hall with Camp Broadway in May. Each year, the Camp Broadway program selects just 60 students, ages of 12-16, from around the country to perform with The New York Pops in New York City.

Camp Broadway is an award-winning industry leader in theater-arts based programs for children. Leurck, after being invited to audition, was chosen from over 500 amateur performers. The three-day program was filled with master classes in vocal performance, dancing and acting from a creative team including Broadway choreographers and music directors.

Leurck is an experienced entertainer performing both in Saint Ursula Academy theater productions as well as Saint Xavier High School productions. Adding the New York Pops 33rd Birthday Gala experience to her repertoire was a goal of hers that was achieved with the help of Saint Ursula musical directors Katherine Jennings and Kathy Backherms.

Saint Ursula Academy is a Catholic, college-preparatory, secondary school for young women known for academic excellence and rich tradition. Saint Ursula welcomes students from more than 90 grade schools in the Greater Cincinnati area. The Academy is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education as a Blue Ribbon School. The campus, located at 1339 E. McMillan Street in East Walnut Hills has been the home of St. Ursula Academy and Convent since 1910. 86% of the Class of 2016 earned college scholarships totaling more than $22-million.
