SUA did it! We are State Volleyball Champions in Division 2. It was a hard-won achievement. The State match-up requires the winning team to win 3 sets, with a max of 5. SUA's opponent, Anthony Wayne took the first two sets. The Bulldogs were down, but not out! The team rallied to win the next three sets to WIN the OHSAA Division II state volleyball championship match, which was played at the Nutter Center at Wright State University near Dayton.
The set scores were Anthony Wayne, 25-23, 25-20, and Saint Ursula Coming from behind to tie with the next two games 25-17 and 25-16. The Bulldogs were on a roll and confidently won the fifth and final set with a score of 15-9.
It's the ninth state volleyball title for Saint Ursula. It's the first state volleyball title for the school in 21 years.
Every member of the team contributed to the win. The scoring was led by senior Molly Creech, who had 30 kills and 20 digs. Creech had the final three points for SUA, all on kills taking it home for the win.
We are so proud of these student-athletes who showed tenacity, determination, teamwork, sportsmanship, and integrity. We are also proud of the school community who showed up in so many ways to support the team this season! Go Bulldogs!
