Saint Ursula Academy is excited to announce the top academic awards for the Class of 2024.
Saint Ursula Academy (SUA) proudly congratulates Grayson Rohmiller who earned the honor of Valedictorian in the SUA Class of 2024. Grayson earned the highest cumulative GPA through the third quarter of her senior year. She also is a National Merit Finalist and earned a perfect ACT score at the end of her sophomore year.
Madelyn Edmondson earned the second-highest cumulative GPA through the third quarter of her senior year, making her Salutatorian of the Class of 2024. Madelyn is also a National Merit Commended Student.
“Saint Ursula Academy curriculum is challenging at every level,” said Saint Ursula Academy Principal Kathy Restle. “So, to graduate from SUA at the top of the class is an exceptional honor and reflects hard work and a significant commitment to their education from each of these students.”
Valedictorian
Grayson Rohmiller will attend Vanderbilt University this fall to study Biomedical Engineering. She says she has always loved math and science, so this is an exciting next step in her education journey.
“I knew I wanted to major in a STEM-related field. During my time at SUA, I have been able to maximize the amount of STEM courses in my schedule, which have immensely helped to prepare me for my future plans. I am also interested in medicine, and SUA has offered many ways for me to explore this as well, such as the SUA Medical Society. My teachers have always been so supportive and encouraging, and because of their efforts I feel confident and well-prepared for the next four years.”
Grayson described her favorite classes and how they helped her prepare for the next life step.
“I have enjoyed all of my classes at Saint Ursula, but one of my favorites was AP Calculus during my junior year. My teacher was so passionate about what she was teaching, and she truly wanted every one of us to succeed. Some of the other classes that I have enjoyed have been AP Biology, AP Chemistry, and AP Physics. Our teachers are always willing to help, and they are enthusiastic about teaching their subjects. All of my teachers at SUA have been amazing, and I am so grateful for them all! I could not have grown into the person I am today without them.”
She added “SUA's unique schedule allowed me to fit in all of these courses, and they have been essential for figuring out what I want to do in the future.”
Grayson says that her experience and success came from more than just challenging academics. “SUA has always provided a supporting atmosphere that encourages not only high academic achievement but also a balance between school, sports, and extracurriculars. The SUA sisterhood is so positive and uplifting, and the students here motivate each other to do their best.”
To incoming and future students, she says, “My biggest advice is to be open to all the new experiences that high school will bring! Whether it's trying out for a different sport, joining a club, auditioning for a play, or meeting someone new, have an open mind and be excited about it all!”
Salutatorian
Madelyn Edmondson is headed to the University of Virginia this fall where she will study Mechanical Engineering. Inspired by her uncle, her love for math, and her teachers at SUA, she is excited to begin her engineering studies this fall.
“All of my teachers were so supportive and genuinely interested in helping me further my education. I never doubted that they wanted the best for me. I had the privilege of taking Mrs. Rosen’s Engineering class at SUA. It confirmed my decision to pursue mechanical engineering. We got to work on a myriad of fascinating projects that challenged me to think outside the box and problem-solve. I hope everyone gets the opportunity to have teachers who are as passionate, encouraging, and patient as the Saint Ursula faculty.”
Madelyn’s advice for incoming or future students is to enjoy every moment of high school. “Every difficult class or frustrating assignment culminates in an outstanding education. And your peers will become people who you can’t imagine living without. Both socially and academically, Saint Ursula Academy is truly one of a kind and deserves to be treated as such.”
"We are incredibly proud of these top scholars and every member of the Class of 2024 who worked hard to earn her diploma," said Saint Ursula Academy President Lelia Keeve Kramer '77. "We can't wait to see what these amazing young women do next as they work to make a positive impact in the world."
