Saint Ursula Inducts Newest French Honor Society Members

French Students

Saint Ursula Academy congratulates the newest members of the French Honor Society. The students celebrated the honor with a reception in the Saint Ursula Parlors on December 15, 2021. In addition to receiving a certificate during an awards presentation, the students enjoyed a delicious feast featuring traditional French fare, which they prepared.

The new inductees are:
Eleanore Bender of Monfort Heights
Kathleen Fitzpatrick of Columbia Tusculum
Laura Fitzpatrick of Columbia Tusculum
Elizabeth Graham of Anderson Township
Ava Heffernan of Anderson Township
Eleanor Hoffman of Monfort Heights
Grace McMahon of Cleves
Maria Meinhardt of Bridgetown
Hana Winchester of Colerain Township

Their French instructor, Mr. Kim Icsman, is incredibly proud of their achievement.

“These students overcame so much to earn this recognition,” said SUA French teacher Kim Icsman. “They continued to excel academically through the past year and a half despite learning remotely in the spring of 2020 and a variety of changes to the classroom setting in late 2020 due to COVID-19. The high bar required to achieve this honor did not move as a result of the pandemic and they had to work very hard to achieve it. They deserve this special recognition.”

In order to be inducted into the French Honor Society, students must have a cumulative GPA of 3.75 in French during the semester of initiation as well as a 3.00 or better in all other classes during that time. Students must exhibit leadership skills and an interest in French cultural activities. Students must be enrolled in French 4, French 4 Honors or higher during the semester of induction.
