Saint Ursula Academy Proudly Announces its 2019-2020 National Merit Semifinalists

Saint Ursula Academy is proud to announce the students named as Semifinalists in the National Merit Scholarship Corporation competition for the 2019-2020 school year.

Lily Valentino-Vilaboy of White Oak

Grace Yi of Anderson Twp.

Lily and Grace are among the 16,000 students of more than 1.5-million nationwide who entered the competition by taking the 2018 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Qualifying Test last fall. The semifinalists represent less than 1% of U.S. high school seniors, and include the highest-scoring entrants in each state.

These academically talented high school seniors have an opportunity to continue in the competition for some 7,600 National Merit Scholarships worth more than $31-million that will be offered in the spring.

To be considered for a Merit Scholarship award, semifinalists must fulfill several requirements to advance to the Finalist level of competition. Over 90% of the Semifinalists are expected to attain Finalist standing, and about half of the Finalists will win a National Merit Scholarship, earning the Merit Scholar title.
