SUA Donates Items Collected in Personal Care Drive

Personal Care Items Collected

Saint Ursula Academy hosted its annual Personal Care Drive from October 24 through November 9.  As a high school community, Saint Ursula emphasizes modeling the Ursuline core values through action, and one of those values is Personal Care for the Individual.

Student leaders worked with assistance from the Community Service Learning office to coordinate the drive. The student leaders for this school year were Maddie Bambauer ’19 of Montgomery, Isabela Mitchell ’21 of Terrace Park, Elizabeth Summers ’20 of Miami Heights, Linsey Klug ’20 of Pleasant Ridge and Anna Voelkerding ’20 of Green Twp.

These students prepared by researching the local need and identifying outreach agencies to support. They developed the theme "For Cincinnati, this year it's Personal."  The agencies Saint Ursula supported through this effort are HOPE Emergency Program of Brown County and Center for Respite Care in Downtown Cincinnati.  Additionally, monetary donations were collected to support Christian Appalachia Project's School Readiness Program, in solidarity with the SUA students who annually participate in CAP's summer mission trip.

The drive yielded 77 boxes of personal care items for the Hope Emergency Program and the Center for Respite Care. In addition to product donations, students collected over $600 to support the CAP School Readiness Program.

Items collected include bar soap, body wash, hair care products, dental hygiene products, feminine hygiene items, shaving products, underwear, socks and detergent.
