Saint Ursula's Sebastian Awarded CAPA Vocal Performance Scholarship

CAPA Rising Stars

Cincinnati, Ohio- May 30, 2018 –Saint Ursula Academy’s Kate Sebastian of Hyde Park was selected as a Rising Star award winner at the Cincinnati Academy of Performing Arts’ first annual vocal scholarship competition. 28 other high school students from the area participated in the competition, which was designed to promote high school singer at all levels. 

Each student was asked to memorize and perform both a musical theatre piece and a song of a different style, such as classical, pop, gospel, jazz, or even an original composition. The competition was judged by Dr. Audrey Walstrom, a voice pathologist, performer, and voice teacher, Maggie Perrino, the Theatre Director for The Carnegie in Covington, and José Rubio, an internationally acclaimed opera singer. 

The competition was held on April 22 at Armstrong Chapel United Methodist Church in Indian Hill.
