St. Ursula Volleyball’s Kristen Massa Sets School Record and Surpasses 1,000 Kills

Cincinnati, Ohio, September 17, 2013 – St. Ursula Academy senior Kristen Massa ‘13 of Anderson Twp. is only halfway through her final season of volleyball at St. Ursula Academy, but is already breaking old records and setting new ones. On Thursday, September 12, Massa broke SUA’s record for most kills with 986. The previous record was held by SUA alumna Michelle Kenning with 976 career kills in 2007.

After breaking the school record on Thursday, Massa surpassed 1,000 kills at her next game on Saturday, September 14 against Lakota East. She scored 27 kills in that game. With 8 games left in the regular season, she is on track to set a career record that will be difficult for anyone to reach.

Varsity Coach Kevin Lucas said, "Kristen has been a four year varsity starter for SUA. She was recently named the #75 recruit in the Class of 2014 by Prepvolleyball.com. Kristen was a 2011 and 2012 1st Team All GGCL, 1st Team All City and 3rd Team All State selection. In my fourteen years of coaching at the school, I have not seen a more gifted attacker. Not only is Kristen very talented, she is a hard worker and a fantastic leader and teammate." St. Ursula Academy is currently ranked #4 in volleyball among Ohio High Schools. Kristen hopes to continue leading her team to success through the regular season and into tournament play. She plans to play volleyball for Xavier University after she graduates.
