Two Saint Ursula Academy Students named Evans Scholars

Cincinnati, Ohio – January 26, 2017 – Saint Ursula Academy students Lily Mannix ’17 of Hyde Park and Caroline Ricke ’17 of College Hill have been named Evans Scholars by the Western Golf Association. The Evans Scholars Foundation is a charitable trust that provides full, four-year tuition and housing college scholarships to deserving caddies. This prestigious honor is awarded to those with a strong caddie record, excellent academics, and outstanding character and leadership.

“Based on their excellence in the classroom and their service to their schools and communities, there is little doubt that these young women have earned this life-changing opportunity,” said John Kaczkowski, WGA President and CEO. “We welcome them to the Evans Scholars family.”

Lily has been caddying for three years at Kenwood Country Club. She is also very active at Saint Ursula as an Ambassador, PAL, a member of National Honor Society, OJCL, Spectrum Club, and is President of Library Advisory Council, Astronomy Club, Saint Ursula Academy Technology Team, and Coding Club. She plans to attend The Ohio State University in the fall with a major in neuroscience. After receiving her undergraduate degree, she hopes to go to medical school and study trauma medicine. She is grateful for her counselors and mentors at Saint Ursula who helped her with the strenuous application process.

Caroline has been caddying at Clovernook Country Club for four years. In addition to caddying, she volunteers at the Ronald McDonald House and Life Forward Pregnancy Center. At Saint Ursula she is involved in the Debate Club, Earth Club, Green Team, National Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society, runs cross country and is co-president of the Feminism Club. She will also be attending the Ohio State University in the fall and plans to major in nutrition with a minor in Spanish. She hopes to eventually be a Holistic Nutritionist, treating medical problems at the source rather than using pharmaceuticals to mask the symptoms. Caroline is grateful to her parents for showing her the importance of hard work and how to properly complete a project.
