Saint Ursula Announces New Varsity Head Soccer Coach

Cincinnati, Ohio – December 16, 2016 – Saint Ursula Academy is excited to announce the return of Dave Ruehl as Varsity Soccer Coach for the school’s renowned soccer program.

Ruehl coached the SUA Bulldogs 2007 through 2011, where he led the SUA Bulldogs to consecutive state championships in 2007 and 2008.

He is a Cincinnati native with extensive playing, coaching and athletic training experience. Ruehl is looking forward to bringing that to the Bulldogs team. He will take over the highly ranked Saint Ursula Bulldogs varsity team for the 2017 competitive season.

Ruehl said, “I am looking forward to the opportunity to coach players that match my passion for coaching soccer. The players’ high level of passion and dedication to soccer and their school is a tradition at SUA.”

Coach Ruehl says his goals for the 2017 season include creating an atmosphere that provides each player an opportunity to grow as a person and a soccer player. He would also like to make each player’s experience a rewarding one. He says “The coaching staff is committed to giving 100% of ourselves each and every training session and game.”

Saint Ursula Academy Athletic Director Mike Sipes said, “Dave’s passion for the sport of soccer is contagious and his players are well aware of his commitment to the game.
I am glad that Dave has missed us as much as we have missed him and I am confident that he will run a soccer program where all the players will be challenged to reach their potential. Wins and losses aside, that is, after all, what we strive for high school soccer to be.”

The 2017 season is still many months away, but in the meantime, Coach Ruehl hopes to have the chance to watch the girls in some open play futsal events he plans to schedule in the gym to help him get to know their soccer abilities and personalities. He says that will give him and the entire soccer staff a good start in determining the style of soccer they play next fall.

Coach Ruehl says he is anxious to get to work and added, “I am truly blessed to be able to be a part of a culture that encourages academic excellence and empowers each student to grow spiritually, socially, and emotionally.”
