SUA Equestrians Advance to Regional Competition

February 6, 2017 - Cincinnati, OH - Saint Ursula is proud to announce that students Maggie Niesen ’17, Emma Carroll ’19 and Lilly Krueger ’20 have each qualified for the Interscholastic Equestrian Association (IEA) Regional Finals competition.  They will compete on March 4 at Morehead State University in Kentucky.

The three SUA equestrians advanced to the invitation-only regional show by earning qualifying points at regular season horse shows.

Maggie will represent Bridle Run Riding Team in the Varsity Open class, which is IEA’s highest level of competition. Emma will ride with Childress Rodgers Stables Equestrian Team in the Varsity Intermediate class, and Lilly will compete in the Junior Varsity Novice class, also with the Childress Rodgers team.

The IEA prepares high school students for collegiate equestrian team participation at the National Collegiate Equestrian Association (NCEA) and Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) levels. The IEA season began in August and culminates in National Finals in April at the Virginia Horse Center in Lexington, VA. The regional competition is the first post-season qualifier toward National Finals.

Congratulations and best of luck to these students at the next round of competition!
