Saint Ursula Academy's Emma Carroll Advances to Interscholastic Equestrian Association Finals

Cincinnati, Ohio, March 8, 2016 - Saint Ursula Academy student Emma Carroll ’19 of Hyde Park has qualified for the Interscholastic Equestrian Association (IEA) Zone 5 Finals on March 19-20. Emma will travel to Otterbein University to compete against riders from Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan and Ohio for the opportunity to advance to National Finals next month.

Emma qualified for Zone Finals by winning her flat class and placing second in her jumping class at Regional Finals on March 6—where she also won the title of High Point Rider for scoring more points than any other show competitor.

Emma has been riding for the Childress Rodgers Stables Equestrian Team for three years. She also competes in Ohio Hunter Jumper Association (OHJA), Kentucky Hunter Jumper Association (KHJA) and United States Equestrian Federation (USEF) horse shows throughout the year. Earlier this year, Emma was awarded the USEF High School Equestrian Athlete Varsity Letter and she won an OHJA Medal class.

The IEA prepares high school students for collegiate equestrian team participation at the National Collegiate Equestrian Association (NCEA) and Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) levels by promoting and improving the quality of high school equestrian competition and instruction.

Saint Ursula Academy Principal Craig Maliborski looks forward to following Emma’s progress in this event as well as future equestrian events over the next several years. “Saint Ursula Academy is very proud of Emma and all of her accomplishments in equestrian events. As a member of our freshman class, we are hopeful that she will continue to pursue this passion and be successful for many years to come.”
