Saint Ursula Academy Names National Merit Students for ’17-’18

Cincinnati, Ohio – October 2, 2017 - Saint Ursula Academy is proud to announce several students recognized by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation for 2017-2018.

Senior Lauren Talbot of Miami Heights was named a National Merit Semifinalist. Talbot finished in the top 1% of students nationwide who took that PSAT exam as juniors. She is among 16,000 semifinalists who will continue in the competition for 7,500 Merit Scholarship awards worth more than $32-million.

Five SUA students were named National Merit Commended Students, meaning they finished in the top 5% of students nationwide. The Commended Students are:

Lauren E. Ruesink of Milford
Madalyn Venard of Delhi Twp.

Saint Ursula Academy teachers and students work together to participate in an educational process that promotes critical thinking, problem solving techniques, and higher level thinking. All are necessary elements for success on the PSAT test, which determines those chosen for the National Merit Program in all of the categories.

Saint Ursula Academy is a Catholic, college-preparatory, secondary school for young women known for academic excellence and rich tradition. Saint Ursula welcomes students from more than 90 grade schools in the Greater Cincinnati area. The Academy is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education as a Blue Ribbon School. The campus, located at 1339 E. McMillan Street in East Walnut Hills has been the home of St. Ursula Academy and Convent since 1910. The Class of 2017 earned college scholarships totaling more than $21-million.
