SUA's Talbot a National Merit Semifinalist

Cincinnati, Ohio – September 13, 2017 –– Saint Ursula Academy is proud to announce senior Lauren Talbot '18 of Miami Heights was named a National Merit Semifinalist for 2017-2018 by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation.

Students named semifinalists finished in the top 1% of students nationwide who took that PSAT exam as juniors. These academically talented high school seniors will continue in the competition.

“Our students choose Saint Ursula Academy for its consistent high standard of academic excellence knowing the curriculum and co-curricular activities are designed to unlock the potential in each one of them; academically, socially and spiritually. We are very proud of Lauren and this great accomplishment,” said Saint Ursula Academy Principal Craig Maliborski.

Lauren is among 16,000 semifinalists who will have an opportunity to compete next spring for 7,500 Merit Scholarship awards worth more than $32-million. Finalists compete for one of 2,500 National Merit $2,500 scholarships that will be awarded on a state-representational basis. About 1,000 corporate-sponsored Merit Scholarship awards will be provided by approximately 230 corporations and business organizations for Finalists who meet their specific criteria, such as children’s of the grantor’s employees or residents of communities where sponsor plants or offices are located. In addition, about 190 colleges and universities are expected to finance some 4,000 college-sponsored Merit Scholarship awards for Finalists who will attend the sponsor institutions.

National Merit Commended Students will be named later in the month.
