Community and Cultural Engagement

Saint Ursula Academy is a Catholic institution where we share Jesus’ message that every person is made in the image of God. As such, the stakeholders (Board of Trustees, Administration, Faculty, Staff, Students, and Parents) are responsible and accountable for building a diverse, equitable, inclusive, and compassionate community. This will be accomplished through planned programs and strategies that emphasize respect for and affirmation of the dignity and worth of every person.

Cultural Engagement and SUA Core Values

Diversity and appreciation for the uniqueness of others are Ursuline core values at Saint Ursula Academy. St. Angela Merici, foundress of the Ursuline Order of Sisters, insisted on love and respect for every individual. She modeled responsiveness to the “needs of the times” of all social classes, especially those marginalized, not by choice, but by alienation, oppression, or exclusion from educational opportunities.

Students

Saint Ursula Academy’s learning environment uses resources to create opportunities that build an appreciation for the talents, gifts, and abilities of all. Students have many opportunities to get involved in clubs, organizations, and activities that help build a welcoming and inclusive school culture.

Engagement for All

It takes everyone working together with common goals to create a vibrant culture. At Saint Ursula, core values at our foundation are combined with Catholic social teaching to help us intentionally create a welcoming and inclusive community, where every student and adult feels they belong.
SUA offers opportunities for all parents and guardians to get involved while their daughter is enrolled, including groups and activities with a focus on community and cultural engagement.

Alumnae

Saint Ursula treasures every graduate. While every student's experience is different, it is the goal for every student to feel welcome and that she belongs during her time at SUA, and beyond. The Saint Ursula Alumnae Office aims to:
  • Cultivate student-alumnae connections
  • Strengthen the alumnae of color network
  • Enhance alumnae engagement programs
  • Increase alumnae support of cultural engagement programs
  • Increase alumnae support of scholarships with a focus on diversity
