Saint Ursula Academy National Honor Society Sends Happy Birthday Wishes to Children in Need

Cincinnati, Ohio, May 14, 2015 – Each and every day, students at Saint Ursula Academy (SUA) are challenged to “build a better world.” The National Honor Society (NHS) recently met this challenge by building birthday boxes for children in our area who may not have the resources to have a birthday party.

Each year the SUA NHS chooses a service project to benefit a local non-profit agency. For the 2015-2016 school year, members decided to make birthday boxes, consisting of cake mix, icing, plates, napkins, and forks to donate to the Ronald McDonald House, Interfaith Hospitality Network, Homeless Day Shelter, Churches Active in Northside Pantry, Grace Place Shelter and the Bethany House Shelter in North Fairmount. Boxes were delivered to the agencies to be distributed to children on their birthdays. The students hope these boxes will help children create birthday memories that they will cherish for a lifetime.

The students participating in this event have been selected to be part the NHS based on leadership activities and grade point average. The goal of the organization is to expand students' community service and leadership skills through various activities and service projects. This Birthday Box project is only one example of the ways Saint Ursula Academy students are making a positive impact on the lives of others.
