Cincinnati, OH – September 9, 2015 – Saint Ursula Academy is proud to announce its National Merit semifinalists for 2015-2016. Today officials of the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC) announced the names of approximately 16,000 Semifinalists in the National Merit Scholarship Program.
The National Merit Semifinalists from Saint Ursula Academy this year are:
Anna Feldkamp of Anderson Twp.
Emma Maliborski of Green Twp.
Maria Racadio of Madeira
Shelby Schwarz of Hyde Park
Gabrielle Silvestri of Liberty Twp.
These academically talented high school seniors have an opportunity to continue in the competition for some 7,400 National Merit Scholarships worth more than $32-million that will be offered next spring.
To be considered for a Merit Scholarship award, Semifinalists must fulfill several requirements to advance to the Finalist level of the competition. About 90-percent of the Semifinalists are expected to attain Finalist standing, and about half of the Finalists will win a National Merit Scholarship, earning the Merit Scholar title.
“We are so proud of these students and this impressive accomplishment,” said Saint Ursula Academy principal Craig Maliborski. “These girls work very hard and it’s affirming to see them rewarded for their efforts. We wish them each success as they move into the next phase of the scholarship competition.”
St. Ursula Academy is a Catholic, college-preparatory, secondary school for young women known for academic excellence and rich tradition. St. Ursula welcomes students from more than 70 grade schools in the Greater Cincinnati area. In 2002 the Academy was recognized by the U.S. Department of Education as a Blue Ribbon School. The campus, located at 1339 E. McMillan Street in East Walnut Hills has been the home of St. Ursula Academy and Convent since 1910. The Class of 2015 earned college scholarships totaling more than $19-million.
