St. Ursula Senior Carolyn Knollman Breaks School Volleyball Record

St. Ursula Senior Carolyn Knollman Breaks School Volleyball Record

Cincinnati, Ohio, September 25, 2014 – Carolyn Knollman ’15 of Delhi, broke Saint Ursula Academy’s all-time career assist record at the Louisville Invitational Volleyball Tournament earlier this month. She earned 28 assists in the match against Notre Dame Academy, bringing her career total to 1777. The previous record of 1756 career assists was held by Bryn Kehoe ‘04, a member of the 2003 National Volleyball Championship team. That number is expected to grow as the season continues.

Carolyn has been playing volleyball since she was a third grader at Our Lady of Victory School. She credits her success to two coaches who have guided her and encouraged her through her career.

“Kevin Lucas and Erin Schroeder not only taught me how to perform on the volleyball court, but they also taught me how to be a teammate and a friend. I couldn’t have accomplished this without them,” said Carolyn when asked about her success.

Coach Kevin Lucas had this to say of her. "Carolyn has been a model of consistency for our program and has grown to be a great leader and teammate."

Carolyn is quick to credit other players on the St. Ursula Volleyball team when asked about her record-breaking weekend. “Without the consistent passers and hitters on the volleyball court, I wouldn't be able to break an assist record.”

In addition to the all-time career assist record, she also holds the single season assist record of 773, set in 2013. She plans on attending Gannon University in Pennsylvania to play volleyball after graduation.
