St. Ursula Academy's Salad Bowl Series Features Liz Wu of Poco Loco

Cincinnati, Ohio, September 19, 2014 – Students welcomed special guest Liz Wu from the band Poco Loco on campus September 17 to kick off the annual Salad Bowl lunch series. Appreciation for diversity is a core value at St. Ursula Academy. During the school year, the Diversity Department, headed by Toilynn O’Neal ’90, hosts a Salad Bowl Lunch Series during a lunch bell. The concept suggests that the integration of the many different cultures and diversity factors combine like a salad. This month’s Salad Bowl Series celebrated Hispanic Heritage with a focus on Latin American music.

Ms. Wu is gifted at weaving her love for writing, music, and art into a performance that showcases many aspects of Hispanic Heritage. Students were treated to a performance during lunch while sampling traditional tacos prepared by the Bulldog Fresh Market.

Other Salad Bowl Series’ have featured Asian Heritage and African Heritage. In addition to the Salad Bowl Series, the Diversity Department also hosts a pep rally, a soul food sale, and a Young Women’s Institute for incoming students.
