Saint Ursula Academy Student Named National YoungArts Winner

Cincinnati, Ohio, August 23, 2016 – Earlier this year, Saint Ursula Academy junior Georgia Fuller ‘18 of Hyde Park was announced as a National YoungArts Foundation Winner. From more than 12,000 applications—the largest number to date—819 young artists from 42 states were selected for their outstanding work and accomplishments across the literary, visual, design and performing arts. Winners receive cash awards of up to $10,000, validation by renowned mentors, opportunities to participate in YoungArts programs, a strong professional network, and guidance in taking important steps toward achieving their goals. Georgia was selected as one of only 13 dancers for her outstanding talents and abilities in ballet.

The selection process began nearly a year ago when Georgia submitted a video of her work including classical ballet, contemporary ballet, and barre work. The judges based their award decisions completely on the submitted videos; no personal information was attached to the submission. Georgia earned a Merit award for her entry. She plans to apply to the program again this year and hopes to be selected to compete in Miami, Florida for a chance to win up to $10,000 in scholarships.

Dancing since she was only 2 years old, Georgia is committed to pursuing her passion for dance. She currently dances with the Cincinnati Ballet In the future she hopes to join a professional dance company and pursue a dancing career as a classical ballerina.

Saint Ursula Academy is a Catholic, college-preparatory, secondary school for young women known for academic excellence and rich tradition. Saint Ursula welcomes students from more than 90 grade schools in the Greater Cincinnati area. The Academy is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education as a Blue Ribbon School. The campus, located at 1339 E. McMillan Street in East Walnut Hills has been the home of St. Ursula Academy and Convent since 1910. 86% of the Class of 2016 earned college scholarships totaling more than $22-million.
