SUA Equestrian Niesen Advances to Zone Competition

Maggie Niesen ’17 has qualified for the Interscholastic Equestrian Association (IEA) Zone 5 Finals competition on March 25-26. Maggie will travel to Otterbein University to compete against riders from Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan and Ohio for the opportunity to advance to National Finals at the Virginia Horse Center in Lexington, VA next month. Maggie will compete in the Varsity Open class, which is the IEA’s highest level of competition. She qualified for Zone Finals by winning her flat class and placing second in her jumping class at Regional Finals on March 4.

SUA's Emma Carroll '19 and Lilli Krueger '20 also competed.

The IEA prepares high school students for collegiate equestrian team participation at the National Collegiate Equestrian Association (NCEA) and Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) levels.

Maggie Niesen won first and second places at the Interscholastic Equestrian Association Regional Finals to advance to Zone Finals competition later this month.
