SUA Summer Academy camp descriptions:
DramaRama: DramaRama is a camp that is perfect for aspiring performers of any level. The week-long experience will offer training in voice, dance and acting and the week will culminate in a performance on St. Ursula Academy’s stage! Family and friends can enjoy the performance on June 20th.

FBI – Future Bulldogs Investigate: Do you enjoy CSI, Bones and other crime investigation shows? Did you ever wonder how well you would do at solving crimes? In the FBI- Future Bulldogs Investigate camp, you will get your chance to be a criminal investigator. Cases might be as simple as identifying who is forging checks at the local store to arson and whose bones were found in a trunk in an old barn. Learn the crime scene science techniques used by real investigators. Take fingerprints, examine trace evidence and test for blood, putting your investigative skills to the test!

Write Away! This camp will encourage and challenge the young writer to discover and develop her creativity, find her unique writing voice, and express her individual vision! Each day will be devoted to a different type of creative writing, and every session will include time for hands-on writing activities. Day one will begin with brainstorming exercises to inspire creativity, days two through four will explore different forms of creative writing, and day five will be a celebration of student writing in which family and friends are invited to hear their young writer’s works in progress.

Grasp the Guitar: This camp will focus on learning to read music and learning notes on the guitar. By the end of the week, students will be playing in ensembles with other guitarists. We will also work on learning chords and playing pop songs. All materials, including use of a guitar, will be provided for the week.

Artistic Exploration: Delve into art this summer inspired by works at the Cincinnati Art Museum and contemporary art techniques. Each day, students will learn about different aspects of the visual arts through interactive projects, art making activities, and more. Participants will explore their creativity through painting, printmaking, collage, drawing, photography, sculpture and mixed media based classes. Students will also take a field trip to the Cincinnati Art Museum. The camp will help to enhance imagination, creativity, and discipline, problem solving skills, cultural and historical awareness, art appreciation and more.

The Nature of Inquiry: In this camp, we will observe, map and investigate our natural world through outdoor science inquiry activities. Participants will be involved in hands-on activities in which we will collect and preserve plant specimens, complete plant and insect identifications, observe plant, insect and animal behaviors and more. We will collect and analyze our data in individualized field journals. Each participant will have her own field journal in which she can include drawings, notes, observations and data collected throughout the week. Each student will take home a poster with pictures, drawings and a summary of the investigations she learned throughout the week.

Beautiful Girls: No two girls are alike, so “why fit in when you were born to STAND OUT!” ~ Dr. Seuss. Each day of this camp will be filled with activities and crafts that will remind you of how beautiful you are, inside and out. If you love spending time with friends, doing crafts, Pinterest, and want to love and learn more about what makes you shine, then this camp is for you!

Camp Bulldog: Do you enjoy spending time outside, cooking, playing games and making crafts? Come experience all this and more at Camp Bulldog! Campers will take a field trip to Eden Park for a nature walk and games; learn how to cook a pizza using a solar oven and make “up-cycled” crafts. Campers will also make and fly hot air balloons, make nature sun prints and participate in water and group games. Join us for a week full of nature, water fun, games, cookouts, arts and crafts and new friendships. Morning and afternoon sessions are available (9 am -11:30 am and 12:30 pm -3 pm). Maximum of 24 students per session. Camp Instructor: Ms. Jennifer Broo, SUA Science teacher

Leading the way to SUA! Are you a leader? Do you want to become one? Either way - join us! This camp is filled with fun activities meant to help you explore and develop your leadership skills. Through team-building activities, exercises on self-reflection, and discussions about finding your passion, we will learn about what it means to be a great leader - both in high school and beyond!

The Graceling and Me: Discover or rediscover this fantasy novel, the first of the Changeling Realm series by Kristin Cashore as we read it during “The Graceling and Me.” Get to know the amazingly talented Katsa and Prince Po as they try to rescue young Princess Bitterblue and save the Seven Kingdoms. Participate in our thought-provoking discussions and creative adventures.
