Saint Ursula Academy Seniors and their Moms Honor the Blessed Mother During May Crowning

Cincinnati, Ohio, May 1, 2014 – The senior class of St. Ursula Academy recently spent a day honoring their mothers and paying tribute to the Blessed Mother Mary during the annual May Crowning Event.

The event, a tradition at St. Ursula Academy for over 100 years, encourages the students to reflect on the love and guidance provided by their mothers through their childhood and teenage years. It also focuses on the important role of Mary in our Catholic faith. Following a service in the chapel, the girls processed outside to adorn the statue of Mary with flowers. Mary’s stature is a central figure in the landscape in the front of the main school building.

Crowning Mary this year were seniors Morgan Miller of Anderson Twp. and Elizabeth Klare of Colerain Twp. They were chosen by the faculty of the school’s Religion Department because they have been active in the school’s Faith Formation activities during their years at St. Ursula. The girls presented the statue of Mary with a crown of flowers before the rest of the senior class placed flowers around Mary.

Seniors were then encouraged to join their mothers for photos and lunch for the continuation of the May Crowning observance.
