Five Saint Ursula Academy Students Named National Merit Finalists

Cincinnati, Ohio, February 19, 2016 – Saint Ursula Academy is proud to announce that all five SUA students who were recognized by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation for 2015-2016 as semifinalists have now been recognized as “Finalists”. Last September, five Saint Ursula Academy seniors were notified they had been chosen as National Merit Semifinalists by finishing in the top 1% of students nationwide who took the PSAT exam as juniors.

As a semifinalist, students were required to submit additional documentation supporting their academic success during their senior year. Students who met the academic standards, confirmed their academy ability by taking the SAT, and had letters of recommendation from their principal were then honored as finalists. As a finalist, students are eligible 7,400 Merit Scholarship awards worth more than $32-million. Finalists were notified on February 10 and National Merit Scholarship awards will be offered in March 2016.

The five students who have been recognized as National Merit Finalists are:

Maria Racadio of Madeira
Shelby Schwarz of Hyde Park
Gabrielle Silvestri of Liberty Twp.

St. Ursula Academy is a Catholic, college-preparatory, secondary school for young women known for academic excellence and rich tradition. St. Ursula welcomes students from more than 70 grade schools in the Greater Cincinnati area. In 2002 the Academy was recognized by the U.S. Department of Education as a Blue Ribbon School. The campus, located at 1339 E. McMillan Street in East Walnut Hills has been the home of St. Ursula Academy and Convent since 1910. The Class of 2015 earned college scholarships totaling more than $19-million.
