Saint Ursula Academy's Damico to Perform in Opera Showcase

Cincinnati, Ohio – May 31, 2017 – Saint Ursula Academy junior Melissa Damico of Anderson Twp. will be featured in The Young Artist’s Preparatory Program (YAPP), Cincinnati’s premier opera apprentice program for high-school students taught through the Musical Arts Center. YAPP is composed of a group of extremely talented singers who have been working hard for nine months to prepare for the annual showcase performance. The 21 participants come from all over the Tri-State area, representing 9 local communities and 11 different high schools.

Damico and the other participants auditioned in September 2016 by preparing two full-length classical pieces and a monologue. Students were chosen based on their intellectual, interpretive and performing abilities, musical skills, maturity and integrity.

This year’s showcase will feature scenes from: The Marriage of Figaro and Magic Flute by Mozart, Sullivan’s Mikado Die Fledermaus by Strauss, Va Pensiero by Verdi and many others.

You can see Melissa perform at the showcase at the Anderson Center on:
-Friday, June 16 @ 7:30p
