Dr. Brian Grawe Shares Interview Tips with BFF (Best Foot Forward) Club

The Saint Ursula Academy BFF (Best Foot Forward) Club welcomed a special speaker on Tuesday.  Brian M. Grawe, MD is a Board Certified Orthopaedic Surgeon and is currently an Assistant Professor at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine, Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and Sports Medicine.  He spoke to SUA students abuot how to shine in an interview.  His presentation included many tips about how to make a good first impression, how to present oneself as knowledgeable about a subject and served as a caution regarding many common interview mistakes.

Dr. Grawe currently interviews medical school students applying for internships and fellowships and has witnessed first-hand many successful and unsuccessful interviews.  Above all, Dr. Grawe stressed that students should "sweat the small stuff" in interviews because an attention to detail stands out in all interview situations.  He also discussed the importance of appropriate dress for the interview, knowing details about the position for which you are interviewing, and that following up after an interview is a crucial part of the process.

The BFF club is moderated by SUA President Lelia Keefe Kramer '77 as a way to teach important life skills to students.  This month, the focus was on interview skills, but students are also learning how to jump start a car, manage money as they venture to college, and how to cook food over a grill.
