St. Ursula Academy student designs college textbook cover

St. Ursula Academy senior Kelsey Vehr has designed a college textbook cover for a book that is now in use at the University of Cincinnati’s psychology department.  The daughter of Nick and Laura Vehr of Westwood, Kelsey’s design project was created under the supervision of St. Ursula design teacher Mrs. Alison Probst.

“This is a really nice start to her college studies in becoming a designer.  Everyone in the class benefited from having gone through three to four years of design study here at St. Ursula. They became well acquainted with the process of working with a live client, a budget and production.  The best thing is that Dr. Spence is delighted with the cover,” says Mrs. Probst.

Dr. Nancy Spence, the author of “Life Medicine” chose Kelsey’s design from a number of preliminary designs created by Mrs. Probst’s students, and although impressed by the numerous designs submitted, she chose Kelsey’s design which had “tipped the scale” with her tree of dappled green leaves on speckled paper.

Says Kelsey about the project, “It was really exciting to have my design chosen—to see it as an actual book all put together in a final production.”
