St. Ursula Academy receives sportsmanship award for second
year
St. Ursula Academy recently was awarded the 2006 Harold A. Meyer Sportsmanship, Ethics and Integrity Award from the Ohio High School Athletic Association. The award, which the academy also received in 2005, is presented to schools who take significant steps to not only emphasize sportsmanship to students, coaches, parents and fans, but also to emphasize the values of ethical behavior and integrity. The winners are required to complete an eight-part program in their schools and communities showing that they are promoting the SEI values. The award is named in honor of the late Harold A. Meyer, commissioner of the OHSAA from 1969-1977, and may be won annually as long as the minimum requirements are met. This year was the 15th year that the Harold A. Meyer award has been given to qualifying Ohio schools.
"It is an honor for us to receive this award again this year as a commendation for our past efforts, and we take this opportunity to re-commit ourselves (fans and athletes alike) to live up to the highest standards of good sportsmanship, ethics, and integrity in all that we do," says St. Ursula Academy President Judith A. Wimberg.
