St. Ursula Academy students receive awards and exhibit their work

Seven St. Ursula Academy seniors recently had their design work exhibited at the Southwest Ohio and Northern Kentucky Regional Scholastics Awards Ceremony in the Marx Gallery in Covington, Ky. A fashion illustration by Lindsey Schmitt and Hanna Kitzmiller both of Anderson Twp. were selected for exhibit by Knowledgeworks Foundation. Jenna Heaton of Western Hills and Ellen Habel of Hyde Park each received an Honorable Mention for their analytical object drawings and graphic translations. Lauren Stegeman of Green Twp. also was awarded a Silver Key for her fashion poster as was Sarah Uhl of Anderson Twp. for her tie illustration; and Rebecca Matthews of Clifton won two Silver Keys for an optical illusion illustration and animated sports figures. The Scholastic Art and Writing Awards are organized by the Alliance for Young Artists and Writers.

Design professional and faculty member Mrs. Alison Probst says of her students, "Young designers with a passion to showcase their critical thinking and aesthetic skills prevail at the 2008 Scholastic Art Awards."


St. Ursula Academy is a Catholic, college-preparatory, secondary school for young women.  In 2002 the academy was recognized by the U.S. Department of Education as a Blue Ribbon School. The campus, located at 1339 E. McMillan Street in East Walnut Hills has been the home of St. Ursula Academy and Convent since 1910.
