St. Ursula Academy awards scholarships to Class of 2012

St. Ursula Academy has awarded 19 academic scholarships with distinction to members of the Class of 2012. The scholarships were based on the entrance test taken in December for next year’s incoming freshmen and are renewable every year. The recipients, their grade schools and communities are as follows: Rachel Barry from St. James White Oak (White Oak); Haley Caruso from St. Ursula Villa (Anderson Twp.); Jessica Geise from Summit Country Day (Mt. Lookout), who also won a $2,000 Tablet PC at Open House; Chloe Georgiades of St. Ursula Villa (Mt. Washington); Taylor Giblin from Bethay School (Glendale); Sarah Halmi of St. Ursula Villa (Pierce Twp.); Lauren Harper of Nativity (Golf Manor); Lauren Heintz of St. Ursula Villa (Anderson Twp.); Kelli Miller of Cardinal Pacelli (Hyde Park/Mt. Lookout); Lindsay Moeller of St. Mary (Hyde Park); Corine Nako of Indian Hill Middle School (Indian Hill); Olivia Noe of St. Mary (Hyde Park); Maggie Perme of St. Ursula Villa
(Mt. Washington/Anderson Twp.); Kristen Swope (Bethany School) Springdale, Dawn Thomas (Bethany School) Woodlawn, Sally Triona of St. Ursula Villa (Anderson Twp.); Peggy Tull of Indian Hill Middle School (Kenwood); Kerry Ulm of St. Gertrude (Madeira); and Katelyn Vail of Mother Teresa (Liberty Twp.).

Says Principal Frances Romweber, “The recipients of the St. Ursula Academy Academic Scholarships in the Class of 2012 represent young women who are gifted with fine minds. They have chosen St. Ursula Academy because they realize the importance of being challenged fully by highly qualified teachers. They understand too that in such an academically stimulating environment they will learn from other classmates whose inquisitive intellects and shared abilities will allow all to benefit individually and as a class in a communal sense of purpose ‘To be prepared for a changing world.’”


St. Ursula Academy is a Catholic, college-preparatory, secondary school for young women.  In 2002 the academy was recognized by the U.S. Department of Education as a Blue Ribbon School. The campus, located at 1339 E. McMillan Street in East Walnut Hills has been the home of St. Ursula Academy and Convent since 1910.
