St. Ursula Academy awards 12 scholarships to Class of 2011

Cincinnati, Ohio – January 26, 2007:   St. Ursula Academy has awarded 12 academic scholarships with distinction to members of the Class of 2011.  The scholarships were based on the entrance test taken in December for next year’s incoming freshman and are renewable every year.  The recipients, their grade schools and amounts of their scholarships are:  Kendall Sherman from St. Ursula Villa - $7,000; Nicole Hird from Colerain Middle School - $5,000; Eileen Brady from St. Ursula Villa  - $2,500; Emma Breyer from St. Veronica - $2,500; Brittany Gibler from St. Ursula Villa - $1,500; Madeline Perry from St. Mary – $1,500; Lauren Billy from Mercy Montessori - $1,000; Shannon Melvin from St. James White Oak - $1,000; Mary Jo Bissmeyer from St. Bartholomew - $1,000, Marie Salcido from St. Ursula Villa - $1,000; Colleen Reilly from Our Lady of Visitation - $1,000, and Natalie Bryans from All Saints - $1,000. 

“The recipients of the twelve academic scholarships to St. Ursula Academy represent young women who are gifted intellectually.  As members of the Class of 2011 they will share their academic abilities and thrive on those which their other classmates will gift them with as well. In the St. Ursula Academy Class of 2011, 65% of the students scored in the ninety percentile or above.  Given such high scores on our December Entrance Test, we anticipate that ‘the best is yet to come,’” says  Principal Frances Romweber.

St. Ursula Academy is a Catholic, college-preparatory, secondary school for young women.  In 2002 the academy was recognized by the U.S. Department of Education as a Blue Ribbon School. The campus, located at 1339 E. McMillan Street in East Walnut Hills has been the home of St. Ursula Academy and Convent since 1910.
