Eight St. Ursula Academy seniors are National Merit finalists

All eight of St. Ursula Academy’s seniors who had been named as National Merit semi-finalists last fall, have now advanced to finalist standing.  They are: Lauren Acton, daughter of James and Darcy Acton of Anderson Twp., Christina Gilligan, daughter of Scott and Anne Gilligan of Hyde Park, Ashley Miller, daughter of Michael and Claire Miller of Anderson Twp., Laura Mucenski, daughter of Michael and Cathleen Mucenski of White Oak, Kathleen Puttmann, daughter of Ambrose and Mary Puttmann of Western Hills, Krista Rath, daughter of William and Mary Rath of White Oak, Shannon Ridge, daughter of John and Shelly Ridge of Anderson Twp., and Simon Waller, daughter of Paul and Yelandra Waller of Blue Ash.           

These finalists are among the top scorers in each state who are eligible to earn scholarship awards to be offered in 2007.   In the past five years an average of 14% of St. Ursula seniors have been honored by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation as finalists, semi-finalists or commended students.       


St. Ursula Academy is a Catholic, college-preparatory, secondary school for young women.  In 2002 the academy was recognized by the U.S. Department of Education as a Blue Ribbon School. The campus, located at 1339 E. McMillan Street in East Walnut Hills has been the home of St. Ursula Academy and Convent since 1910.
