St. Ursula Academy senior nominated for Wendy’s High
School Heisman Award
Cincinnati, Ohio - Nov. 10, 2006:
St. Ursula Academy senior Ashley Miller has been nominated for
the Wendy’s High School Heisman Award. The program, awarded in conjunction with
the collegiate Heisman, celebrates the achievements of the nation’s top high
school seniors both in and out of the classroom. Miller is the daughter of
Michael and Claire Miller of Anderson Twp.
Principal Frances Romweber nominated Miller
for her academic aptitude, athletic talent and exceptional commitment to her
school and community. “At St. Ursula Academy we prepare our students for
success by encouraging them to develop in all areas of their lives. Wendy’s
High School Heisman is the ultimate award we can bestow on our students for
their achievements throughout high school,” says Ms. Romweber.
Miller was nominated for the Wendy’s Award
based on the following accomplishments: She is a
National Merit Semi-Finalist, an AP Scholar, has had first honors all four
years, has been a member of the National Honor Society, National Youth
Leadership Forum 2005 medicine nominee, is a member of the French National Honor
Society, and won the Yale Book Award. Miller has performed community service
and volunteered for St. Ursula’s canned food drive, the AVOC Aids Walk,
Children’s Hospital Medical Center and Home Swim Meet volunteer. Since her
freshman year she has been a member of St. Ursula’s varsity swimming & diving
team where she is the co-captain her senior year. Her awards include Freshman
Swimming Rookie of the Year (sponsored by Gatorade), High School All-American
Relay - Swimming, freshman, High School All-American - Swimming (individual),
sophomore, High School All-American - Individual Swimming and Relay – junior,
Girls Greater Catholic League (GGCL) 2nd Team All-Star
(swimming) – freshman,
Girls Greater Catholic League (GGCL) 1st Team All-Star
(swimming) – sophomore,
Girls Greater Catholic League (GGCL) - First Team All Star
(swimming) – junior,
First Team - All City for Swimming (Cincinnati Enquirer) –
junior, Ohio High School swimming - state finalist (grades, 9, 10, & 11), St.
Ursula Swimming Bulldog Award – junior, St. Ursula MVP - 400 Freestyle Relay
Team – junior, La Rosa's Rising Star for High School Sports - swimming
(2006-2007), Speedo Summer Sectionals Finalist - 400 IM –junior, YMCA National
Swimming Championships - 7 time consolation finalist.
St. Ursula
Academy is a Catholic, college-preparatory, secondary school for young women.
In 2002 the academy was recognized by the U.S. Department of Education as a Blue
Ribbon School. The campus, located at 1339 E. McMillan Street in East Walnut
Hills has been the home of St. Ursula Academy and Convent since
1910.
