Harper Lee’s To Kill a Mockingbird has had a permanent seat on the list of the 100 most banned books since its publication in 1960. Over a span of forty plus years, the novel has continued to stir controversies in both schools and homes. From the anti-racist tones to sexual references to racial slurs, the novel contains some of the most popular reasons for banning a novel.
This site explores a few of the reasons for banning the novel as well as the various cases of the novel being challenged or banned. It also provides a summary of the novel, the social importance of the novel, as well as the author’s opinion on the banning of her novel. |
