VI. FINANCIAL POLICIES

(from the 2011-2012 Student Handbook)

A. Tuition and Fees for the 2011-2012 School Year

Tuition $11,320.00

A tuition deposit for the 2012-2013 school year is due in February 2012. It is used to help ascertain the enrollment for the coming year, is applied toward tuition and is non-refundable. The Business Office must receive the advance tuition deposit by the specified date in the Enrollment Contract to guarantee enrollment for the next year.

E.S. Program Fee $3,200.00

The Educational Services Program Fee is in addition to the regular SUA tuition.

One-to-One Tablet PC Program

Fees $600 a year Tablet PC fee, with the first payment due in April. Annual payments due in May the next 3 years, or parents can choose to prepay the fee for all 4 years for $2,000 in April

Advanced Placement (AP) additional fees will be billed for students taking AP exams.  

B. Tuition Payment Plan
    There are two options for payment of tuition:

1. Full payment - Parents may choose to pay the total tuition and fees prior to/or on July1, 2011.
2. Eleven (11) Installments - Parents may choose to pay the total tuition and fees in eleven (11) equal monthly payments beginning in June 2011.

TMS Group will serve as the billing agent for all parents. A $45 service fee will be charged by TMS to establish the tuition account for those families selecting the 11 month payment option. St. Ursula Academy will assess a $25 service charge for any checks returned for insufficient funds. TMS Group also reserves the right to assess a fee for checks returned for insufficient funds.
 

Parents are offered the option to purchase Tuition Insurance (referred to as the Tuition Refund Plan in the enrollment contract) from Dewar Insurance at a cost of 2.8% of the total tuition and ES fee (if applicable).

C. Financial Policy
1. Parents must complete the enrollment contract and return it to the Business Office.
2. If a student (incoming or outgoing) is enrolled at St. Ursula Academy, the student will be billed for the full tuition for that year.
3. A freshman's registration is not finalized until the registration fees and tuition deposit are paid in full and the enrollment contract is completed and returned to the Business Office.
4. Class schedules, transcripts, letters of recommendation, and college applications will be withheld from students who have an overdue tuition balance of 60 days or more.
5. Students who have an overdue tuition balance of 120 days or more may be asked to withdraw from the school.
6. At the end of the school year, transcripts will not be released, college applications will not be forwarded, and diplomas will not be conferred until all financial obligations are met including the student's obligation to return all textbooks, library books, and school equipment and athletic uniforms in proper condition. It is the student's obligation to pay all library fines. Reimbursement must be made for any damaged or lost books or articles belonging to the school. It is important to note that the student's class schedule for the upcoming school year will not be released to the student unless all financial obligations to the school for the prior school year are paid in full by July 31, 2011.
7. At the school's discretion, the Business Office reserves the right to request cash, certified check, or money order for payment.
Special note: If there are unforeseen circumstances that prevent making tuition payments on the due dates, please contact the business office at extension 170.

D. Scholarships
St. Ursula Academy awards academic scholarships on the basis of the SUA entrance test scores. Once awarded a scholarship, a student must maintain an honor roll standing to have the scholarship renewed. In addition, a student's behavior must reflect the philosophy of St. Ursula Academy. A student on scholarship is allowed one probationary semester during the four years.

E. Financial Aid  - click here for Form for 2012-2013
1. All parents interested in receiving any consideration for financial aid (grants and work/study) must complete an application and mail it by the published deadline to the agency designated by the Business Office annually.
2. Applications for financial aid are available at the switchboard/reception office in mid-October. The application is available by clicking here.  A new application must be submitted each year the student wishes to be considered for financial aid.
3. A limited number of grants are awarded at the discretion of the financial aid committee of St. Ursula Academy. The grants are awarded based on financial need. Once awarded, the grant may be renewed each year provided the family remains financially eligible, and the student maintains an academic standing in accordance with her ability, her behavior reflects the philosophy of the Academy, and funding for the grant continues to be available.
4. Through the financial aid process, students may be awarded a Work/Study position. A limited number of students can be accepted into the program. Students receive financial assistance in exchange for work done at the school. A student who fails to complete her contracted work hours is considered to have failed to meet her financial obligations. Parents/Guardians will be billed for unworked hours. This amount is due upon receipt of the invoice.
5. If a student withdraws from St. Ursula Academy or is dismissed for any reason, then the award will be pro-rated based on the total number of days she was in attendance.
Please note: Incoming freshmen and other new students must be registered in order to be considered for financial aid.
