Justice Trips

·                    Death Penalty Vigil:

The function of this peaceful protest and prayer vigil at Lucasville Penitentiary is to help the students grow in their knowledge of this important “pro-life issue” and at the same time offer them an opportunity to take action on behalf of justice—a justice that is deeply rooted in gospel values.  As Catholics and Christians, we are called to be pro-life.  Since we believe in the “sanctity of all life,” it is our duty to protect and defend life in all forms.

·                    School of the Americas (SOA) Trip:

Students and faculty members from St. Ursula Academy, as well as other area schools, will make the journey to Columbus, GA to participate in the annual School of the Americas (SOA) protest.  This school is funded by our tax dollars through the Department of Defense.  It is a training facility for Central and South American military and para-military groups in combat and anti-insurgency techniques.  Its graduates have been implicated, charged and or convicted in thousands upon thousands of deaths.  Unfortunately, the atrocities continue today, and most of the victims have been the poor and the indigenous citizens, many of who had no voice to speak for them in our world.  It is for all of these people that we go, to attempt to end our nation’s participation in this continuing injustice.
